Logan Bonner has secured a place in the Utah State record books, and he beat Jordan Love to do it.
The Aggies’ graduate transfer quarterback is now the school record holder for touchdown passes in a single season, breaking the record set by Love — now with the Green Bay Packers — in 2018.
A 5-yard strike to Derek Wright in the second quarter of the Mountain West Conference championship game against No. 19 San Diego State on Saturday broke the record, giving Bonner 33 touchdown passes this year. (Love threw 32 touchdown passes during his breakout sophomore season).
At the end of the contest, Bonner had nearly broken Love’s record for the most passing yards in a season as well. Love threw for 3,567 yards in 2018, and after throwing for 318 yards against the Aztecs, Bonner has thrown for 3,554 yards this year, with a bowl game remaining.
Bonner threw four touchdown passes against San Diego State, setting the new USU single season record at 36. The four touchdowns are also the most ever thrown by any quarterback in a MW title game.
